About Della

Some background

Back in late 2014, Della, a wheat farmer’s daughter from near Narrabri, in northwest NSW, Australia, had an idea to celebrate her 45th birthday. Rather than a party, she thought to hold a 3-night retreat over New Year’s Eve weekend, at cabins in the Mount Kaputar National Park near their farm, inviting all her single friends who are Christians / Messianic believers, approximately 65 of her Facebook friends. She wanted to encourage them in their faith and walk with their LORD, to pray for healing, and to empower them to use their giftings to glorify God. The response to the notion was good but, unfortunately, that retreat did not happen due to other circumstances.

But, in February 2021, the LORD inspired her again to hold a Christian singles retreat. Her heart was breaking for all her friends, especially in the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, who had been alone during lockdown after lockdown the previous year.

“But LORD,” she asked, knowing that her calendar already full, “LORD, Do You really want me to add this to everything else I’m already doing right now?”

YES!

So, she sent out an SMS to the 42 single friends on her phone, saying she was thinking to host a retreat at her Dad’s farm, either Easter or ANZAC weekends, in April 2021. She didn’t know if anyone would be interested.

But the response was overwhelming – she had accidentally hit a raw nerve in the Christian community – how alienated our singles feel in our churches (see How to become a Singles Friendly Church). More than half the people said they would love to come to one or both (though most couldn’t for one reason or another)! Suddenly it was all happening!! 18 people came from over 1,500km (1000 miles) to meet together in fellowship. See our past retreats.

Unforeseen Ministry expansion

After the ANZAC WEEKEND 2021 retreat, one of the retreatants asked Della to come to Adelaide to do a retreat in the Adelaide Hills, which we did in June 2021.

Another retreatant offered to do a website – the first website was called ChristianSinglesRetreats.net but it was replaced in 2022 by this Kedesh website because we started doing more than just retreats. For example, we began a magazine for singles, by singles.

Soon Della’s friends from around Australia started asking for singles retreats, and then a lady in New Zealand, then a Mexican, then Africans, and some Americans, a Swede, and a German, then other places the world were longing for Christian singles retreats! She could hardly believe it!

Unfortunately, the Delta variant of COVID19 arrived in Australia in June 2021, and closed the borders, so all those plans got canned. She was caring for her Dad with dementia by then and could not do the travelling anyway.

Kedesh Aspirations!

Soon Della realised that running singles retreats was just one of a number of types of retreats she longed to conduct, and these were just one of many ministries about which she had been inspired. She had begun to record her thoughts, in January 2015, in a document she dubbed “Kedesh Aspirations”, hence the change of website name to incorporate anything the LORD may open up which was contained in her 100+ page yearnings.

For example:

• She had been in Jewish mission since 2006 and felt she could help people share the Good News with the Jews, so she started the Israel page which included Hosting Israeli Travellers (HIT) and prayers for Israel once the Hamas War started in October 2023.
• In 2023, the website expanded further, when Della’s father decided to sell the machinery in his Farmer Brown’s Wheat Farm Museum. Check out their Farm Sale page.
• She loves to pray and read the Bible, so she started up pages to encourage people to pray with her, and read devotions together through the YouVersion Bible app.
  She began distributing full Bibles in Hebrew with Israel and the Bible.
  Then, in 2025, she began compiling teachings by her Messianic Jewish friends, which she calls the Triennial Messianic Devotional Bible (TMDB).
• Her sponsor children live in Uganda, Africa. As a fundraiser for an outreach which they run each December called “Impact Love”, she decided to do a produce Charity Gift Cards.

She marvels as she sees the fulfilment of ministries she has been dreaming about for over two decades!

The Suitable Companion

In March 2024, she and her former husband were married again (click here to read the amazing miraculous story of restoration after 17 years apart). He has a farm near Tenterfield NSW to which he hopes Christians will come and live, and we can form a community (Della is delighted because her ultimate Kedesh desire was to live in community). He runs the Australian Christian Preppers Association Inc and they hope to run teaching seminars on how to prepare for the coming persecution, natural disaster, and future pandemics (see events).

Since then, other doors seem to be opening – writing (see books) and other creative pursuits.
